Building the New Los Santos: From Blender to Asset Development

What happens when BigRock’s creativity meets the innovation of a startup born at H-FARM?

On April 16, our students in the Master’s programs in Computer Graphics and Concept Art enjoyed a special day as part of the HR Warmupformat. The special guest was the team from Emerals, represented by one of its founders, Michele Mangiacotti, and the platform’s Community Managers.

Emerals isn’t just a startup; it’s a vibrant organization that has grown within the H-FARM ecosystem—the same one that hosts our campus. The proximity of these two entities and their shared vision make collaboration between BigRock and Emerals a natural fit: on one side, those who learn to create digital worlds; on the other, those who inhabit and revolutionize those worlds.

Beyond the Game: Creating Assets and Props for GTA

During the meeting, Michele gave the students a glimpse into a world that many of them knew as players but few as professionals: the development of assets for GTA servers, a true creative industry that requires skills in 3D modeling and texturing,

Who designs and who models in 3D with Blender now has a great opportunity ahead of them. Michele explained how creating objects, architecture, and characters for Emerals’ servers requires the same care, optimization, and artistic sensibility as a film or video game production.

The Opportunity: Field Internship

What news really caught the students' attention? The chance to do internship directly with the Emerals team. Under the supervision of their Art Director, the selected students will be tasked with creating new original assets that will actually be implemented on the server.

Why is this important?

Seeing your own 3D models and environments come to life within an active ecosystem frequented by nearly half a million players is not only a wonderful experience but also a source of great satisfaction.

This partnership with Emerals perfectly embodies our philosophy: to build a direct bridge between the classroom (or rather, the computer labs) and the most innovative companies in the market. For our students, working at an H-FARM startup means breathing in an atmosphere of constant innovation and realizing that, with Blender and a graphics tablet, the possibilities for what they can create are virtually limitless.

Good luck to everyone who takes on this challenge: the future of Los Santos is in your hands…
