Francesco Gallo: Surfacing and Lighting Artist

Francesco Gallo is a CG Artist, specializing in the art of Surfacing and Lighting. He currently works for the renowned Walt Disney Animation in Vancouver.

After graduating from Iuav in Venice with a degree in Visual Arts, he became a 2013 a student at BigRock within the Master's program in Computer Graphics.

After finishing his studies, he worked for eight years in London at various production companies (among the last being Jellyfish Pictures and DNEG) dealing with such titles as The Innocents, Spirit Untamed e Under the Boardwalk.

Recently, however, he worked for Walt Disney Animation on the movie Oceania 2 . Dealing mainly with the look of Vaiana, as well as some of the characters or details in the film, Francis is now Look Development Artist for Disney.

He has always been fascinated by all forms of art and the history contained in each. His keen sensibility for design, color and composition have made him the artist he is today.

With his wealth of experience, Francis wants to use communication to improve the entire workflow, focusing on the finer details and incorporating them within his creative vision.

In a recent interview with Imperoland, Francis gave advice to all aspiring Italian animators with high ambitions:

"Don't be afraid and follow your path. It is essential to commit to study, but do not underestimate the importance of jumping in. When opportunities arise, don't be afraid and take them."

Advice that can apply to anyone, and especially to BigRock students. Francis' example certainly shows that
