Ribaltamentor

You've figured out by now that challenges are our bread and butter, but manual ones... oh, those have a flavor all their own! It is with this passion that we approached this week's Ribaltamentor, an experience that we might call... intertwined and intertwining, in the truest sense of the word.
For those who don't know, the Ribaltamentor is that moment when the roles are reversed: students become mentors, while mentors and staff sit in the desks, ready to be guided to discover something new.

This time, the theme of the lesson took us back in time and around the world: crochet. A technique that has its roots in European history between the 17th and 18th centuries, perhaps evolving from tambour embroidery, a type of embroidery made with a small hook. But the real crochet boom came in the 19th century, particularly in Ireland, where the famous "Irish crochet hook" became a valuable resource during the famine. With its simplicity and versatility, this technique became an art capable of combining beauty and practicality, winning the hearts of millions of people around the world.

Leading us on this adventure made of threads and imagination were the very talented Sabrina Lanfranchi and Giuli Maio students of the master's program in Computer Graphics, who shared their evening hobby with us!
With a smile and a lot of patience, they took us by the hand, or rather, put a hook in our hands, to teach us the first steps in the magical world of crochet.
And so, armed with crochet hooks and colored threads, we set off to discover!
Okay, we admit it: it wasn't all sunshine and roses. We all managed to make at least the initial "chain," already there was a lot to sweat over.
They gave us something really special: a rocket keychain created with their own hands.Â
