Imagine walking into a classroom and discovering that you can create entire worlds, model landscapes, bring digital characters to life with your face and even program their actions. This was Bigrock students' first impact with Unreal Engine: an immersive journey into digital creation that, in just seven days, led them to take their first steps as real developers.

Powerful Tools, Unlimited Creativity

The week began with an overview of the tools that make Unreal Engine a graphics and gaming giant. Students explored different tools such as Landscape Mode, modeling stunning terrain, and Foliage Mode, which allowed them to bring scenery to life with photorealistic vegetation.

But they did not stop there: advanced management of light, shadows and fog gave depth and atmosphere to their creations, demonstrating how even the smallest detail can make a difference in the immersiveness of a project.

One's Face in the Metaverse

One of the most fascinating moments was undoubtedly the introduction to photogrammetry. Using this technique, students scanned their own faces to transform them into a MetaHuman, an incredibly lifelike digital avatar. Seeing one's face move in a virtual environment was an amazing experience, making the potential of immersive technologies in the world of art, entertainment and gaming even clearer.

From Idea to Action with Blueprints

Programming is no longer just for experienced coders: thanks to Blueprints, students were able to create interactions and game mechanics in a simple and intuitive way.
For the first time, they got to see video games from another perspective, that of the developer.

Sequencers and Rendering: Bringing Creations to Life

Finally, students experimented with the Sequencer, Unreal Engine's animation and directing tool, with which they created real cinematic sequences. Thanks to the rendering, their projects took shape with an astonishing level of detail and realism.

The First Step Toward the Future

In just one week, Bigrock students have discovered the limitless potential of Unreal Engine, going from spectators to creators of digital experiences. This is just the beginning of a journey that will lead them to master one of the industry's most powerful tools.
