MASTER'S DEGREE IN UX/AI DESIGN

OVERVIEW

With the Master's in User Experience and Advanced Interface Design you will design advanced digital experiences with the support of artificial intelligence.

Through the latest tools, you will learn how to independently design generative interfaces, digital experiences for web, mobile, and within spatial computing. You will explore all design phases: from user needs analysis to testing the visual, speech or hybrid interface.

We are aware that from a small "wave" can come great revolutions.

That is why we want to train designers who can make the best use of the enormous potential of artificial intelligence and design advanced interfaces for revolutionary devices such as Apple VisionPro™️ and MetaQuest™️.

IN COLLABORATION WITH AKQA

The Master's program in User Experience and Advanced Interface Design, developed in collaboration with AKQA, offers a unique path for those who want to immerse themselves in the world of digital design.

With more than 3,000 active professionals in 20 countries, AKQA is a global benchmark in innovation, recently recognized as Digital Agency Global Network of the Year by Campaign in 2023. Its projects, awarded at Cannes and by Fast Company, combine creativity and advanced technology, pushing the boundaries of digital design and communication.

Through this collaboration, Master's students will gain cutting-edge skills in UI and UX, benefiting from the experience of one of the most award-winning companies in the industry.

YOUR POST

At BigRock, every detail is chosen and taken care of for the student's well-being, so that he or she can focus only on the path toward his or her goals-we take care of the rest!

Computer

You will work on an iMac with an Apple Silicon processor capable of supporting the graphics performance of the software you will use.

Equipment

You will have Meta Quest and Apple Vision pro viewers to test your space UIs.

Desks

The tables you'll be working on are custom-designed and made of solid oak, ensuring your comfort and visual tranquility.

Chair

You will sit in a Herman Miller ergonomic chair. There are no more comfortable seats on the market. Not content with that, we've also decided to add one class a week of stretching with a personal trainer.

COURSE PROGRAM

You will explore the design of augmented, conversational, virtual and extended reality interfaces. You will go through all stages of design and user experience: from user needs analysis to testing.

Throughout the course there will be figures and professionals who will show you the many applications of the skills you will accrue.

Indeed, in the future, the artist will have to respond to a world of work that is increasingly oriented toward interdisciplinary skills, moving beyond mere knowledge of a single piece of software and developing a clear and informed view of production processes.

Academic Year - 21 Weeks

October > March

Monday through Friday

MORNING > 9:00 A.M. / 1:30P.M.
AFTERNOON > 2:30 P.M. / 6:30 P.M.*

*The classrooms will remain open until 10 p.m. to allow you to experiment and review what you have learned during the day.

Morning

LESSONS

Class lessons are all concentrated in the morning. Together with a basic or PRO mentor, you will learn the various production methodologies by performing, step by step, increasingly challenging exercises.

Afternoon

LABORATORIES

Depending on the subject, the day or the week, you will attend hands-on workshops during the afternoons, preparatory to 3D work, or you can continue your exercises on your own--until late in the evening! The workshops are open until 10 pm.

DISCOVERY

This module introduces the fundamental principles of User Experience, exploring the theories and practices essential to designing intuitive and effective user interfaces.

It will then move on to the principles of design, to refresh those coming from visual communication experience and provide the basics for those tackling the subject for the first time. The fundamentals of typography, composition of layouts and the use of grids to organize content will be explored.

  • Visual Design
  • User Experience Fundamentals
  • User Research Fundamentals

DESIGN

Entering the work pipeline.

We will delve into Design Systems as a tool for creating coherent and scalable digital interfaces and learn about the most advanced interfaces, exploring technologies and devices that are redefining human-computer interaction: generative, spatial and immersive interfaces.

  • Motion Design
  • Design System
  • User Interface Design
  • Automotive HMI

CODING

To create an effective user experience, we will learn the computational logic of a machine and the main web programming languages.

We will then take a leap into the world of Artificial Intelligence, studying prompt systems and their potential.

  • Computational Thinking
  • HTML, Javascript, CSS
  • Prompting & Coding

CLASS X

The Class is the first real project that students will have to tackle independently: five days, 40 hours total, to fulfill an external client's brief while working as a team.

FINAL THESIS.

A second design phase, this time more complicated and longer. Students will work alongside AKQA professionals to redesign the ux/ui of one of their clients. A race against time, where again knowing how to optimize the work and collaborate the team can make all the difference.

EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES

Throughout the Master's program you will address, in conjunction with the lectures, preparatory laboratories preparatory to your work in 3D. These are all fundamental experiences to sharpen your perception of reality, often using the same tools you will find in the software.

LETTERPRESS

Find out where it all began in a real print shop: when printing was done by juxtaposing one physical typeface with another.

UX WRITING.

Write text that is clear, concise and can make interaction easier and more intuitive.

MICRO
INTERACTIONS

Design micro interactions to enhance the user experience.

HMI LAB

Experiment with new Human-Machine interfaces in real-world settings by engaging with the community of specialist designers.

Attend an open day

During Open Days we tell what the school looks like, courses, projects and what we envision for the future of BigRockers.

Come and get to know us live, exploring our classrooms, labs and campus. Our staff will be on hand to answer all your questions.
We want you to make the right choice about whether to start your next adventure with us.
