WHAT is the rookies?
The Rookies is an online platform that offers a range of services and resources for aspiring artists and students in the film and video game industry.
Founded in 2016 by Alwyn Hunt and Andrew McDonald, the platform has had an increasing following over the years, both from artists and from major film and video game productions.
The Rookies is now an important beacon in the industry, especially to those at the beginning of their careers: thanks to the various contests throughout the year, students from all over the world compete to win important prizes and job opportunities, with exceptional juries made up of the best professional artists around.
In addition to the contests, The Rookies offers many free resources, a strong community, and a great opportunity to showcase yourself with companies in the industry.
In addition, every year there are The Rookies Awards, the official contest of The Rookies that determines the best students in the world.

BIGROCK'S PATH ON THE ROOKIES
Some of our masterists' work for The Rookies Awards 2024.
As of 2021 BigRock is officially a certified school of The Rookies: it is the first Italian industry school to have this prestigious certification.
In 2022 BigRock entered two important rankings of The Rookies (which are compiled annually): 16th school in the world in 3D Animation and especially 40th creative school globally.
This was an extraordinary achievement, especially from a national perspective: no Italian school, before BigRock, had achieved similar results.
In 2023 BigRock consolidated and improved its position in the global ranking, moving up to 35th place and remaining the only Italian in the most important ranking of the platform.
At The Rookies Awards 2023 also our BigRocker Giacomo Cervi particularly distinguished himself, being awarded as Highly Commended.
In 2024 BigRock dominated the "Meet Mat 3" contest created in collaboration with Adobe USA, with over 36 entries (school with the most entries), but especially with:
- BigRock students get 4 of the 13 "Adobe Excellence Award" badges;
- Among the 27 finalists in the contest, 6 are BigRocker;
- Among the 6 winners, 3 are BigRocker: Alexander D'Antuono wins the People's Choice, Lorenzo Baraldi wins the Adobe Highly Commended, and Giacomo Cervi is elected the contest winner;
- BigRock is awarded "Best School" of the contest.
